As a creative, you want to be found online and get more clients. Do you have a strategy for increasing your visibility? There are many different options. Knowing which will work best for you can take time.
The good news is that there are plenty of ways for creatives like you to get found online. The three primary platforms are search engines, social media, and directories.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
When Butler started, we were just a small design shop, so we focused on graphic design, web design, and basic off-page SEO. We’ve been in the search engine optimization game since 2012. When we talk about SEO, we’re talking about how you get found on Google. Whenever someone searches for whatever it is you do, you need to position yourself using Google Ad Words and understand basic SEO tactics.
SEO adds value to your branding efforts and ensures the search engines display your best and most updated output when people are looking for your brand.
Optimizing your website with keywords and other factors ensures that people will find you when they look for something related to your brand.
SEO also brings more clients to your door by ensuring that the search engines display your best and most up-to-date content when someone searches for it.
Social Media Marketing
Social media marketing involves using social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, or LinkedIn to drive traffic or build awareness for your brand or product. Social media marketing can build relationships with potential customers and influencers who could help promote your brand or products within their networks.
At Butler, we rely on a combination of organic and paid media. We are big fans of creating as much organic content as possible and creating as little paid content as possible; however, we are not against using paid advertising. The primary function of social media is to help us position our brand and raise awareness.
Using social media marketing, you can make a statement that helps position your brand. Social media influences public perception of what people think about your brand and what comes to mind when they think about your company. Video is one of the most engaging forms of content on social media, and we highly recommend that if you have a social media strategy, you incorporate video into it.
Online Directories
These websites host portfolios and profiles of creative professionals, such as Behance, Dribbble, Upwork, and Fiverr. Online directories can be an excellent way to find new clients or collaborators if your goal is to quickly build a portfolio or reputation. However, it is important to research the reputation and practices of any directory before submitting work.
